Hi there, I am Sophie
Project manager. Parent. Expat residing in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually became a new chapter of living abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The early months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday chores felt more complicated than they should.
The Adjustment Period
The adjustment period included culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of hands-on learning. But gradually, routines formed. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created Norv Exae Lidra
Most information online was either corporate relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Netherlands.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on experience from living in Netherlands
- Centering on family life and daily realities
- Updated only when real changes occur
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Netherlands goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sophie
